As one of the two associate directors in IIT, Orca Merwin manages intellectual property and technology transfer related to content, curriculum, software, digital media, and information technologies developed at the University of Oregon out of the social sciences. As part of this portfolio, he supports researchers by working with them proactively on rights management to support their dissemination goals. Orca also manages the IIT transactional portfolio of material transfer, non-disclosure, data use, and other technology transfer and information-sharing agreements. Through Sponsored Project Services processes and systems, Orca manages industry-sponsored research and services agreement administration, policy, and negotiation. Orca has been with IIT since 2013. 

Orca previously worked in Sponsored Project Services for several years drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements from sponsors and subawards out to collaborators. 

Orca received his JD from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2009 and is a member of the Oregon State Bar.
